ADMISSION Criteria

Reception

The following factors must be considered:

  • Age to be 2.5+ at the commencement of the academic year i.e. in August.
  • Child must be toilet trained.
  • The Principal must make general observations regarding the child’s behaviour taking into account:
    • Speech/articulation
    • Physical movement
    • Inquisitiveness, alertness and sociability
  • Principal must encourage both parents to come to the first meeting and make his/her own assessment regarding the parent’ attitude.
  • Principal must be aware that each child is an individual with distinctive personality and that the development stages vary from child to child
  • The Principal of the school must give final approval in writing, before the student is admitted in the school

Prep One

The following factors must be considered:

  • Child’s age to be 4 at the commencement of the academic year in August.
  • Child must be toilet trained.
  • Principal must his/her judgement regarding the child’s comprehension of:
    • Simple questions pertaining to his/her name, age etc, to assess the child’s language and vocabulary skills.
  • Preference should be given to children who comprehend:
    • Colours (red, blue, green and yellow plus any other)
    • Numbers 1-10---counting and recognition
    • Recognition of letters of the alphabet
  • Principal to have a meeting with preferably both the parents to make his/her own judgement regarding the parent’s attitude.
  • Principal must make his/her own general assessment regarding the child’s behaviour i.e. sociability, alertness, inquisitiveness, aptitude and maturity.
  • The Principal of the school must give final approval in writing, before the student is admitted in the school

Prep Two

The following factors must be considered:

  • Child’s age to be 5 at the commencement of the academic year in August.A child must be able to:
    • Recognize letters of the alphabet a-z and read these phonetically.
    • Read 2 or 3 letter words i.e. at, bat, cat, etc, also phonetically.
    • Write letters of the alphabet from a-z.
    • Count numbers orally 1-50.
    • Comprehend and recognize numbers 1-50.
    • Write numbers 1-50 or more.
    • Match and name colours (basic and few more).
    • Match and name shapes
  • The Principal must make his/her own assessment regarding the child’s speech and vocabulary development by holding a simple conversation with the child. This must also help him/her in gauging the child’s ability to listen and follow directions.
  • The Principal must also make his/her own assessment regarding a child’s motor skills (fine and gross)
  • The Principal must also make judgement regarding the child’s attitude i.e. confidence, co-operation, independence, friendliness, aptitude and maturity.
  • The Principal also meets the parents and forms his/ her own opinion regarding their attitude.
  • Finally, it must be remembered that if the child is 5 years old and coming from abroad, it is quite possible that he/she may not be able to write letters or numbers. In that case, the child’s level of maturity and aptitude can be judged by his/her drawings and other observations.
  • The Principal of the school must give final approval in writing, before the student is admitted in the school.

Grades 1 - 4

The following factors must be considered:

  • Candidate must pass a written test set by the school in English, Maths and Urdu.
  • Must pass the reading test based on the readers available in the library.
  • The Principal must ensure that a teacher administers the entrance test and actually sits with the child throughout the test to explain and read out the questions where necessary.
  • Child’s reading and comprehension level, as well as fluency in spoken English to be determined before admission is offered in a certain class.
  • The test must be properly graded and the teacher concerning the subject and the class, must comment and sign.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Admission is subject to seat availability. All applicants are required to take an admission test.

The First Admission process starts at the beginning of July/August each year and closes by the end of July/ August. Classes for the new academic year start in August/ September. The Second Intake starts from January each year.

REGISTRATION

  • Parents admitting a child should first register for an admission test by paying the registration fee and completing the admission form at the school office.
  • They should take an appointment card for the test and interview.
  • Registration does not in any way confirm or guarantee admission. It is subject to getting through an admission test/ interview.
  • It is subject to availability of the seat.
The class for which a child is tested is determined according to the child’s age.

ASSESSMENT/ADMISSION TEST

Preps

An informal individual assessment is taken with a follow up interview with both the parents. Generally, the speech and level of spoken English, the confidence, the motor skills, the reading level, the vocabulary and concepts of colours and numbers are assessed.

Grades 1 – 5

  • Application for GradesOne onward are tested mainly in three subjects – English, Urdu and Mathematics.
  • The passing percentage is 50%. The duration for each test is approximately 40 minutes and to pass and secure the seat, the applicant must attain at least 50% marks.

Note

  • The papers are of a general nature designed to test the aptitude of the child in the basic subjects.
  • The Test Answer Sheets are not shown and only marks are communicated to the parents/ guardians.
  • A candidate caught cheating during the admission test will be rejected.
  • The sole criterion for Admission is Merit.
  • The school decision will be final and cannot be challenged.

    • Marks sheet from last school
Result will be finalised within 3 days of the test. Parents will be informed with further details.

Test Syllabus

English and Urdu

Creative Writing

Your child's creative writing will be evaluated based on its relevance to the given topic, depth of content, imaginative flair, organization, word choice, sentence structure, spelling, and punctuation.

Listening & Speaking

The student will be assessed by playing an audio and presenting with a series of questions in the listening part. In Speaking part, the student could be presented with pictorial description as well as a specific theme to express in their own words.

Comprehension

Your child will read a suitable passage and answer questions that test their understanding. These questions may require direct answers, making inferences, expressing opinions with supporting evidence, or organizing information from the text.

Test Dates

Admission tests are conducted on Saturdays following the submission of your child's registration form and fee. Please visit our office to complete the registration process and secure a test date for your child.
